The Insanity Going On!

Updated: Mar 12

I've been slow in blogging.

I do have a good excuse.

I started a new series, sorta all at once. The Grit & Grace series, a complete and thorough police procedural, all three books sorta at once. Book one, "Match Made in Mayhem," is due in May (date unknown). Am accepting those who want an ARC copy for those who love free books.

Luke Barritt & Dakota Littlebear live in a small town near Warm Springs Reservation. They are new partners at odds. She's dynamite in a small package. He's a walking social faux pas with a crush. I won't say her name. You might already have guessed it. But will they ever become friends? Real partners?

Next, second in the Grit & Grace Mystery series, "Madness Made in Mayhem," Barritt and Littlebear continue their partnershp, wading through clues and suspects to find a serial killer - one who finds the victims randomly. One who could know the victims - or not.

Third in the series is Mark Made in Mayhem, when three bodies are found in the mansion of a billionaire. The murders were committed during the day. All murders occured in different manners.

And my reading has been late. But not as bad as I thought.

So, here's the reality. I've read two books over "a period of time," and have spent time goofing off, preparing my office for summer (aka buying things to go in it and running out of room).

First up, Patricia Bradley's romantic suspense, "Shadows of the Past," was fast-paced and I did not figure out the killer until the end. Oh, I had suspicions. But blindsided by the end.

From my review:Taylor Martin has a fascinating job profiling. Unfortunately she's gained a follower. Who gives her dead flowers. Nick Sinclair is a mystery author and his paths cross with Taylor when his brother is in the crosshairs. Taylor is positive he's the stalker. Nick is positive he is not. What ensues is absolutely what you will not think. I thought I knew. Find on Amazon here:

I followed up reading a non-Christian book - "Blonde Identity" which was hilarious. Ally Carter, the author, doesn't hold back on the fun of being a "spy" harrassed by a government agent operative (because 'spy' is not a real term the 'agency' uses).

A book to make you giggle.

Caveat: some language. Our blonde "spy" is quick to say, "Language!" while she quips the golly gee lines. Click on the picture for the book on Amazon.

Clean and closed door.

In Other News, I've been watching some fun, some serious detective shows (and you expect something else?).

Watched Brooklyn 99 - other than the fact the captain was gay, this was hysterical. Andre Keith Braughe who I've adored for years. Sad to see that he's passed on.

Then, Canada's hysterically absurd situational comedy, "Corner Gas." Oh My Gosh. From the lyrics of the song to the movie and even the cartoon - all funny. All well done. Brent Butt, with that moniker, had to take everything in stride, and probably became Canada's most famous comedian. Everyone wanted to be on the show. If you have a love for absurd comedy, definitely it. Each of the characters are total idiots in their own way.

Another absurd comedy we just started is called Animal Control. Joe McHale stars as the lead, a detective forced out of the police department, hugely sarcastic. The cast? Irreplaceable. Again ... idiots.

If you haven't watched "Miranda," you're missing out on a gazillion quips to add to your journal for ... quips.

Of course, there's anything Agatha Christie. Watching the old British show, Morse (the theme song itself is worth the show). Did you ever see The Thin Blue Line - another absurd comedy with Rowan Atkinson.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next installment of books, and where I might be at in my next book in the Grit & Grace series.

I love Patricia Bradley's Logan Point books. I'm not surprised you enjoyed Shadows of the Past. Blonde Identity sounds humorous. You're writing a three-book series all at once? You've been busy!
