Romance Under Wraps

Love means never having to hear your Miranda Rights ...

Romance Under Wraps (Whiskey River Mystery, Book 1)

"Romance Under Wraps" was my debut novel, my headlong dive into mystery and suspence, sprinkled heavily with romance and an underlying theme of redemption. I knew nothing (and still don't) of the craft, which sends me to reading binging and crafting books and webinars/zoom etc. But it was a fun foray into delving into what a medical professional with a fake ID might look like and fear, especially to a homicide detective, one who could just barely work a computer but did great outside the boundaries.

Romance Under Wraps, as my first novel contained, a lot of reality set into a lot of, "no one would ever do this" situations, but they did make for some comedic moments. Why I can't write straight rom/coms is beyond me.

What could possibly go wrong when an identity thief (without a real one) crosses paths with a homicide detective over a mysterious murder and a coverup? His hands are tied. Hers are not.Catherine Cade is in a world of hurt when Rick Calhoun catches her red-handed. Prison? His own illegal perks? Some kind of weird romance (like... never!!) Is he involved in corruption and plans to kill her??? How is she supposed to transition from nurse practitioner (way too audacious!) to small town baker with him on her trail?Rick Calhoun has plans all right. 1. put her to work? 2. keep her out of trouble? 3. get her to walk the straight and narrow? 4. bring her to the Lord? 5. and maybe, just maybe, win her heart.

When the thief & detective have to work hand in hand, they might as well have coffee from the Who Donut to catch a killer or two.

Shanghai Road, a Whiskey River Mystery, Book 3

Shanghaiing is history. Now, transportation is the key.

Allie Espinoza, a private investigator with questionable methods, is eager to make a solid reputation in Whiskey River.

On her first job, on a less-than-legal search for evidence for fraud, she uncovers more than she bargained for.Now she’s on the run—until she’s apprehended by Deputy Ben Johnson, one of Whiskey River Police Department’s finest. At the police station, Allie’s true identity is uncovered.

Desperate for extra staff, the PD hires her to help investigate a now complicated case, and it’s not all champagne.

As she and the PD unravel the secrets of spidery intrigue, time runs short while lives hang in the balance. Allie Espinoza must dodge those finer points of the law, a cranky homicide detective, and uncover the evil. While Allie and Ben confront their own demons, one of them may become the next victim. And Whiskey River is where love, danger, and redemption collide.
